Employee Profile: JaVere Chandler
Role: Operations Manager
What are you most looking forward to in your new role with JerseyBike?
Creating an exciting culture with all the employees. Positivity and enthusiasm are the keys to making the workplace work and I am looking forward to making some changes that will help the system operate more efficiently.
What made you decide to take this job?
It was an opportunity to work in something a bit different. I’m excited to tackle something new and help resolve the bumps in the road that come with bike share. I like the opportunity to solve problems that have been troublesome and trying to find different ways to attack it and solve the issues.
What do you think about the future of bike share?
I do believe it is the future. Car insurance and payments are insane on the day to day person. Traffic sucks so having the option for people to grab a bike and go to work and not having to deal with traffic or getting tickets is the best way to go. It is also a healthier option for travel, which a lot of people don’t think about.
Have you ever used the program yourself to get around? If so, what do you like about it?
I haven’t used JerseyBike but am a CitiBike member. I like taking CitiBike around, especially to brunch, because it makes you feel good exercising and burning calories while also getting around in an easier form of transportation.
Do you see a lot of people in the community using bike share?
I saw a lot of people in my old neighborhood using bike share, and everyone would try to grab a bike as soon as possible to get where they need to go. Everyone you saw would be on a bike and if you didn’t grab one before 10 a.m., you were out of luck.
What do you like about bikes, and more specifically, bike share?
I like bike share because I think it is important for the future of transportation. It is awesome having the opportunity to ride a bike 20 minutes to and from work, and at the same time, improving your overall quality of health.
Lastly, what is a fun fact about you?
I am probably the greatest terrible karaoke singer you will ever meet.
